Sigourney Completes Season Sweep Over Keota
SIGOURNEY—On June 19, the Sigourney Savages hosted the Keota Eagles for a conference matchup. The Savages completed the season sweep with a 7-0 victory.
The Savage offense was led by Ty Shafranek, who knocked in two runners. Caden Clarahan, Max Phillips, Chase Clarahan, Cole McKay and Brady Clark all also tallied a run on the day for the Savages.
Caden Clarahan got the start, and finished his day with seven innings pitched, no earned runs on three hits and 15 strikeouts.
The Savages secure their 11th conference win on the season, and sit just one spot behind the Lynnville Sully Hawks for the top spot in the conference. Sigourney head coach Lee Crawford spoke about what he has seen from his team, “It feels really good, especially with the fact that we had lost five starters coming into this year.”
As the season starts to wrap up, Coach Crawford wants to see his team to, “Get more consistency in our bats, and hit the ball better. We are also going to fix some things up on defense in practice. Just try and stay healthy really.”
The Savages advance to 13-5 on the season, and will return to action on June 21, when they visit the English Valleys Bears.
The Eagles fall to 9-9 on the season, and will return to action on June 21, when they host the Southeast Warren Warhawks.
