Sigourney National Honor Society Pennies for Patients Event
The NHS members decided to give back to America's Heroes. All funds collected will be donated to the VA Central Iowa Healthcare System. The donations will be used for the comfort and welfare of the Veteran patients.
10 collection buckets were used, one for each Sigourney CSD staff and coach volunteer. The staff member and the coach with the most donations each received a "pie in the face”.
Coaches:
Boys' Basketball Coach Mitch Eslick, Girls' Basketball Coach Schay Moore, and winning bucket Wrestling Coach Cory VanDenHeuvel
Senior Wrestler and NHS member, Jack Clarahan had the honor of putting a pie in Coach VanDenHeuvel’s face.
Staff Members:
(HS Math) Mrs. Clarahan, (JH Science) Ms. Ebeling, (P.E. & Coach of All) Mr. Jensen, (HS Science) Mr. Kelly, (HS Social Studies) Mr. Maass, (HS Math) Mr. McCulley, and winning bucket (HS Principal) Mrs. Webb.
In a twist of events, Mrs. Webb made a last-minute donation (in another bucket). For a grand total of $930.20 for the VA. This donation placed Mrs. Webb in second place and Mr. Maas with the winning donations.

The Sigourney NHS members want to extend a thank you to all who made donations, and a special thanks to the volunteer participants for supporting the NHS and efforts to show Veterans our appreciation.
