SIGOURNEY – On May 6, the Sigourney Public Library held a “Cook the Book” potluck. Attendees were invited to all cook dishes from “The I Heart Naptime Cookbook” by Jamielyn Nye. Dishes cooked included Baked Chicken Taquitos, Raspberry Pineapple Punch, Roasted Balsamic Carrots, One-Pot Cheesy Bacon and Chive Macaroni, Garlic Parmesan Asparagus, Cheesy Broccoli Soup, Creamy Chicken Cordon Bleu Pasta, Easy Breakfast Potatoes, One-Pot Taco Soup, Dressed-Up Cheese Ball, Chocolate Caramel Crinkle Cookies, Boyfriend Cookies, Bakery-Style Raspberry Cream Scones and Chocolate Chip S’Mores Bars. The library has been holding cookbook potlucks since June of 2017. The next Cook the Book is scheduled for June 3 and will feature recipes from “Cooking Light Crave!”, which will be kept at the library front desk so people can pick up recipes.

“It’s more of a social time,” said Library Director Amanda Kelly. “We spend very little time actually doing anything structured. It’s more just hanging out and eating food...Feel free to stop by. Anybody who makes a recipe we encourage them to bring a friend with them. Everybody always leaves with a copy of the recipes. There’s always lots of leftovers.”
