Sigourney Track Teams Host the Savage Relays

SIGOURNEY—On April 25, the Sigourney Savages hosted the 2023 Savage Relays. 14 boys teams, and 12 girls teams made the trip to Sigourney high school for the Co-Ed track meet. The Sigourney girls track team finished in ninth with an aggregate score of 29, while the boys placed 11th with a score of 20.

Girls:

For the team events for the girls, the Savages placed third in the distance medley with a time of 4:57.81. The distance medley team consisted of Reagan Clarahan, Amiya Smallwood, McKinley Chittick and Carly Goodwin.

They also took home the silver in the sprint medley with a time of 2:05.45. The distance medley team was made up of the same athletes as the distance medley, but the order was Amiya Smallwood, Reagan Clarahan, Carly Goodwin and McKinley Chittick.

Last for the team events, the Savages finished in fifth in the 4x400 with a time of 4:56.21. The 4x400 team was made up of the same foursome as the other relays, but the order this time was McKinley Chittick, Amiya Smallwood, Reagan Clarahan and Carly Goodwin.

For the individual events, Josephine Moore placed fourth in the shot put event with a farthest throw recorded a 32-04.50. 

McKinley Chittick tied for fourth in the high jump with a highest jump recorded at 4-08.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Reagan Clarahan secured the bronze with a time of 1:17.28. Mason Clarahan placed eighth in the same event with a time of 1:23.57.

Mason Clarahan also finished in eighth in the 100 meter hurdles with a final time of 19.09.

Lastly for the individual events for the girls, Addison Yates was the fifth runner to cross the finish line in the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:15.32. Yates also placed eighth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:53.11.

Boys:

For the team events for the boys, the Savages finished in fifth in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:05.91. The 4x800 team was made up of Landon Crowe, Dylan Weber, Braydon Wood and Wyatt Wehr.

For the individual events, Troy Klett secured the silver in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:59.49. Klett also finished in third in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:11.40.

In the shot put event, Caden Clarahan and Jayden Thompson placed back to back. Clarahan secured fifth with a longest throw of 40-07, while Thompson finished in sixth with a farthest hurl of 38-04.

Jayden Thompson also finished in sixth in the discus event with a longest throw recorded at 119-06.

The Sigourney girls track team will return to action on April 27, when they visit WACO high school for a girls meet. The Sigourney boys track team will return to action on May 2, when they visit BGM high school for a SICL Co-Ed meet.
