Even with Brock Alderson’s impressive scores of 255 and 242 for a 497 series on January 20, the Sigourney-Keota boys’ varsity bowling team could not get past Gilbert, the defending conference champions. Gilbert also thwarted the SK JV boys as well as the SK girls’ varsity team efforts. Addison Richardson posted the high score for the SK varsity girls with a 332 series.

The high game for the JV boys was tallied by freshman Caden Meyer with a 198.

SK came roaring back the following week on Friday January 26 when they traveled to

Oskaloosa to take on conference rival Knoxville after a two-week delay of the matchup due to

inclement weather. The SK boys’ varsity team set a new school record when they posted the

3168-pin win over Knoxville with a pin margin of 197. Wells Clark led the boys’ team with a

high score of 256 and a 444 two-game series. Caden Meyer rolled the high score of 174 for the

JV boys with a 313 series. SK’s girls’ varsity team was also victorious as they secured a 116-pin

win over Knoxville with Sophie Young claiming the girls’ high game of 166 and a 312 high

Series.

The SK team continued their winning ways the next day on Saturday January 27 th when they met Norwalk in another conference meet in Des Moines. The SK girls bested the Norwalk girls as Jayden Montgomery claimed the girls’ high game of 189 and a two-game series of 344. The boy’s JV team won their match up with Caden Meyer finishing with a 310 series as the team’s high. Freshman Owen Clark stepped up in a big way for the SK boys’ varsity team by first rolling his personal season high game of 214, and then breaking his own new record with the next game of 225, for a 439 two-game series. Brock Alderson was just shy of that with a 433

Series.
