BELLE PLAINE—The Sigourney Savages baseball team, fresh off a 11-7 victory over Pella Christian last week, opened up conference play by visiting the Belle Plaine Plainsmen.

The Savages picked up the road victory by a final score of 3-0.

Junior Caden Clarahan got the start from the bump. He pitched five and two-thirds innings with no earned runs and only giving up two hits. Clarahan struck out seven of the 18 batters he faced. Sophomore Solon Yates secured the save with one and two-thirds innings pitched, no earned runs, no hits and two strikeouts.

Yates also produced on the offensive side as he knocked in a pair of runners with two singles in his three at-bats. Junior Isaac Bruns knocked in the other run with a double in the second inning.

The Savages push to 2-0 on the season, and will return to action for their home opener against Keota on May 22.
