SOUTH ENGLISH – During the Nov. 12 meeting of the South English City Council, the council discussed filling the vacancy that will be left when Councilman Steven Bruhn resigns. Bruhn, who was appointed to fill a vacancy back in January, intends to resign at the start of the year, for personal reasons. Councilman Cameron Miller stated that the council will need to appoint someone within 60 days of Brunh’s resignation, or else have to hold a special election. Former City Clerk Lexi Van Dyke recommended the council choose someone during the January meeting, to be safe.

City Clerk Stephanie Lown stated she had been contacted by a local business that offered to clean out the gutters at city hall and install a gutter guard, for $600. Van Dyke stated the gutters needed to be cleaned. Miller stated he didn’t want to install a gutter guard, because they don’t work. The item was tabled to give the council time to inspect the city hall gutters and look over the bid.

The council decided to switch from publishing legal publications in the News-Review to in the Hometown Current, after Miller stated that more locals subscribe to the Hometown Current.
