Supervisors Approve Adding US Cellular Equipment to 911 Tower

SIGOURNEY – During the April 1 meeting of the Keokuk County Board of Supervisors, the board approved space on the county 911 tower to US Cellular, so they may add more equipment, after receiving a report stating that the added equipment would not affect the structural stability of the tower or interfere with 911 frequencies. At the same meeting, Supervisor Derek Wood noted an unusually high number of SEIDA bus rides recently, up to 25,600 in February of 2024, compared to 19,700 in February of 2023. He noted that the county still needs to hire more drivers.

The board discussed an aggressive man who attended the previous week’s budget public hearing. County Auditor Christy Bates stated that he had come to meetings in the past, although not in recent years, and been hostile. Supervisor Mike Hadley stated that he did not want people to be afraid to attend public hearings and would look into his power to escort disruptive people out of meetings.
