Swanson Takes Home Third at Girls SICL Tournament

Sigourney’s Krista Sellers placed 19th with a final score of 121

OSKALOOSA—On May 6, the girl’s SICL Tournament was held at Elmhurst Country Club in Oskaloosa. The Sigourney Savages placed sixth with a team score of 496, while the English Valleys Bears finished in 9th with an aggregate score of 542.

Keota’s Lainey Swanson, the lone Eagles on the course, had herself a day by shooting a 98 for a third place finish.

For the Savages, Emma Hammes led the way once again, as she shot a team low 118 for a 17th place finish. Krysta Sellers was right behind Hammes in 19th with her final score of 121. Also near Hammes and Sellers, Lana Thomas finished her round in 21st place with a tally of 126. Lastly for the Savages, Hannah Hanselman shot a 131 for 26th place.

English Valleys’ Jaidyn Rugg continued her impressive year, as she placed 10th with a final score of 110. Taylor Mikesell wrapped her round with a 129 for a finish in 22nd. Sarah Fredrick shot a 150, while Nicole Murphy finished her round with a 153.

All three teams will return to action on May 10, when they head to Sigourney Golf and Country Club for the first round of regionals in hopes of qualifying for the Regional Final in Moravia.
