Tri-County Topples Belle Plaine on Senior Night

THORNBURG—On June 26, the Tri-County Trojans hosted the Belle Plaine Plainsmen for a conference matchup. The Trojans defeated the Plainsmen by a final score of 9-5.

Before the game, Tri-County held a ceremony celebrating the careers of seniors Peyton Icenbice, Delanie Little, Macy Schmidt, Alyssa Conrad, Sadie McKain and Tessa Fisher.

The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play. The Plainsmen took their first lead of the day in the top of the third, when they plated four runners. 

Heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Trojans found themselves down 5-4. They put together a rally that resulted in five runs being scored. They held off the Plainsmen offense in the top of the seventh to hold onto the 9-5 victory. 

The Trojan offense was led by Lily Randall who knocked in three runners on two singles and a triple. Peyton Icenbice also tallied two RBIs on the day. Three other Trojans secured a RBI: Raegan Molyneux, Sadie McKain and Tessa Fisher. 

Delanie Little got the start from the bump for the Trojans, and finished her day with seven innings pitched, three earned runs on three hits and eight strikeouts. 

The Trojans push to 10-8 on the season, and will return to action on June 27, when they visit the Montezuma Bravettes.
