Wayne Leroy Kracht, 68

Sigourney.  Wayne Leroy Kracht, 68, of rural Sigourney, died Friday, August 30, 2024, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.  He was born September 1, 1955, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Leroy and Luetta Barnhart Kracht.  He graduated from Sigourney High School with the class of 1973.  He went on to attend Indian Hills Community College.  On June 7, 1975, he was united in marriage to Kathy Anderson in Delta, Iowa.  Following school Wayne followed his passion for farming.  He believed in being a good steward of the land and always improving his farming operation to preserve the natural resources on his land.  In addition to farming, he enjoyed camping and helping family and friends with building and remodeling projects.  He was a faithful member of the Gateway Church of the Nazarene.

     His family includes his wife of over 49 years Kathy Kracht of rural Sigourney; two children, Neil Kracht of Sigourney and Amanda (Tom) Ward of Clarksville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Zane, Adryan, and Seth; his mother, Luetta Kracht; two sisters and their husbands, Pauline and Lonnie Bell and Janet and Bob Renner; and many nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his father.

     As was Wayne’s wish his body has been cremated.  A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Gateway Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverends Darren Melton and Mark Doll officiating.  The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.  Memorials may be made to Youth Programs at Gateway Church of the Nazarene or MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
