Millikin Places Fourth Overall in Boy’s 1A State XC Meet and Pekin’s Girls XC Team Finishes Fourth at State

Both of Pekin’s Cross Country teams had a very successful showing at the state meet on Oct. 31 in Fort Dodge.

Senior Brady Millikin paced his fellow Panthers with a fourth overall finish in Class 1A. The boy’s team finished ninth overall out of 16 teams. JaeDon Wolver’s 18:09.2 is a PR for the up and coming freshman.

Coach Eidahl’s thoughts on how the boys ran:

“We were without our number 2 runner Zach Wise. I think we could have been third or fourth with him. Getting ninth was outstanding for this team. They competed hard. Jayden and Isaac and Ben really stepped it up.

Brady ran outstanding. He ran a very smart race. He is the first boy I have had to make all state three years in a row.”

The girl’s team was a two headed Lauren running attack seeing both Steigleder and Derscheid come home with a Top 25 finish. The team finished tied for third, however, after a tiebreaker they went down to fourth.

Steigleder’s 20:45.2, good for 12th place, was a Personal Record for her.
