Coleman’s 14 and Pope’s 12 Helps Pace Pekin Over Albia, 46-32
The Pekin Lady Panthers had their first game of the 2020-2021 season against the Albia Lady Dees last Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Pekin.
The Lady Dees struggled offensively, going down 27-10 at the half on 3 of 22 shooting.
“This game showed us what we need to work on in future games. The win gives us the momentum we need to move ahead with a positive attitude,” Coach Eidahl said.
Both teams would score 11 points in the third quarter, but it would be all Lady Panthers in this one from start to finish.
“I thought Sophie Wittrockl had a really good, complete game. Kerrigan Pope is playing well and she is working hard to improve,” Eidahl said.
Jenny Kelly paced Albia with 12 points, followed by Danica Workman’s six on the night.
Erika Coleman’s leadership on the court is noticed by Coach Eidahl when the team meets for practice and for games.
“Erika is only 5'6". She plays like she is 6'. She gives the rest of the team an example to follow. She is vocal and backs it up on the court,” Eidahl said.
