Anna Nilles, 92, of What Cheer, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa. Funeral services began at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. No visitation is planned. Burial will be in the Indianapolis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the What Cheer Fire and Rescue.

Anna Louise Nilles was born in Hedrick on May 16, 1929, the daughter of Roy and Florence Rhodes McBeth. She was a 1947 graduate of Hedrick High School and received her teaching degree from William Penn College. Her teaching career begin in a one room school near Fremont and after teaching for thirty-eight years she retired as a middle school teach from Sigourney Community School. She was married to Charles McClure and to this union came two children, Howard and Rhonda. Anna was later united in marriage to Neil Nilles on August 8, 1974 in What Cheer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rhonda Lea McClure; a brother, Waldo (Treva) McBeth; two sisters, Helen (Fred) Cochrane and Margorie (James) Morrow; a daughter-in-law, Marge McClure; three sisters-in-law, Beverly McBeth, Margaret McBeth and Shirley McBeth; and a brother-in law, Tony Kool.

Anna is survived by her husband Neil Nilles, three sons, Howard McClure, Daniel McClure and Monte (Marcia) Nilles; a daughter, Shelley (Rich) Hornung; a sister, Ruth Kool; four brothers, Dale McBeth, Earnest McBeth, Kenneth McBeth and Charles (Jane) McBeth; seven grandchildren, Justin Clarahan, Jessica Clarahan, Shawn McClure, Pam Thomas, Mary Ann Heres, Jay Hornung and Tim Hornung.
