Gene Keep

1930-2021

Gene Worth Keep, 91, died Nov. 6, 2021 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.  He was born May 24, 1930 to Richard and Myrtle (Pint) Keep in Sanborn, Minn.  He graduated from Rose Hill High School.  Gene served in the US Army and was stationed in Alaska.  On Sept. 27, 1952 he married Demaris Jean Hasty in Oskaloosa.  He was employed at John Morrel in Ottumwa for over 20 years.  Gene and Demaris managed a senior citizen housing in Clinton, Iowa and KOA campground and senior living in Columbia, Mo.  They returned to rural Delta in 2000.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his dog Feisty.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Demaris on May 11, 2019, brothers Jack Keep and Bob Keep.

He is survived by children Steve (Robin) Keep of Solon and Tammy (Doug) Klett of Delta,  10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, brother Richard (Carol) Keep of Ottumwa, and dog Feisty.  

No service has been planned. Cremation has been entrusted to the Holm Funeral Home.
