Tri-County Boys Fall to Melcher Dallas on Senior Night

THORNBURG—On January 30, the Tri-County Trojans hosted the Melcher-Dallas Saints for a non conference matchup. The Trojans fell to the Saints by a final score of 71-44.

The Trojans starting lineup consisted of all seniors to celebrate senior night. The Trojans celebrated the careers of seniors Cayle Kitzman, Corbyn Thomas, David Gillam, Eli Molyneux, Jeremiah Seaton, Julian Van Patten and Payton Beason. 

The game commenced with Tri-County etching out a 10-7 lead behind two three pointers from senior Cayle Kitzman. After a quarter of play, the game was tied at 14. The Trojans out-scored the Saints 14-10 in the second quarter to establish a 29-26 lead. 

In the third quarter, the Saints came storming back. After a couple minutes of play, the Saints pushed their deficit to only two points at 35-33. The Saints proceeded to go on a 16-0 run to secure a 47-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Saints held onto the lead en route to a 71-44 victory. 

The Trojans were led by senior Cayle Kitzman, who finished his night with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and four blocks. Senior David Gillam concluded the night with nine points, six rebounds, five steals and one block. Senior Corbyn Thomas was the main paint presence for the Trojans, as he secured nine rebounds. 

The Trojans fall to 2-15 on the season, with a conference record of 1-13. They will return to action on January 31, when they visit the Sigourney Savages.
