THORNBURG—The Tri-County Trojans hosted the Moulton-Udell Eagles on February 6 for a non conference matchup. The Trojans toppled the Eagles by a final score of 64-52.

The Trojans starting lineup consisted of all seniors to celebrate senior night. The Trojans celebrated the careers of seniors Cayle Kitzman, Corbyn Thomas, David Gillam, Eli Molyneux, Jeremiah Seaton, Julian Van Patten, Zander Elwood and Payton Beason.

The game began with a hard fought back and forth battle that resulted in a 21-19 Tri-County lead after a quarter of play. The Trojans then commenced the second quarter by smacking three three pointers. They went on to secure a 34-26 lead heading into the half. The Trojans went on to secure the 64-52 victory over the Eagles behind nine second half points from senior Cayle Kitzman and seven second half points from Eli Molyneux.

The Trojans leading scorer on the night was senior Cayle Kitzman with 15 points. All 15 Kitzman points came from behind the arc. Senior Eli Molyneux was the second leading scorer for the Trojans with 11 points. The Trojans main paint presence was senior Corbyn Thomas, who amassed 11 rebounds on the night.

Tri-County head coach Dylan Springer spoke on the victory with, “It felt so good.” He went on to describe the jubilation that came with being able to secure a win in the last home game of the season. Coach Springer emphasized that these seniors have been with him for four years now, and everything coming full circle for them was something he hoped for.

Coach Springer went on to explain the impact that Eli Molyneux has made for the team since coming back from injury. He described that Molyneux would have shared the duties of the point guard with Cayle Kitzman, had he not injured his leg. Coach Springer likes the way that Molyneux is able to facilitate the ball, as well as create his own scoring opportunities. Coach Spring stated, “He means the world to this team, and we are glad to have him back.”

With the first round of the postseason tournament, and a rematch against English Valleys, looming, coach Springer wants to emphasize better offensive efficiency, as well as work on defensive rotations.

The Trojans advance to 3-16 on the season, with a conference record of 1-14. They will return to action on February 7, when they visit the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks.
