Pekin Pounces on Lone Tree in First Round

PACKWOOD—The Pekin Panthers hosted the Lone Tree Lions on February 13 for the first round of the Class 1A-Region 6 bracket. The Panthers pounced past the Lions by a final score of 74-58.

The Panthers found themselves behind by five points after a quarter of play. They pushed back in the second quarter by going on a  21-14 run to secure a 34-32 halftime lead. The Panthers went on to out-score the Lions 40-26 in the second half en route to the 74-58 victory. 

The Panthers advance to the second round of the Class 1A-Region 6 bracket, where they will visit the North Mahaska Warhawks , who are currently ranked 13th in Class 1A, on February 16.
