Larry Fairchild

1937 - 2023

Larry Lee Fairchild, 85, died January 14, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. On July

9, 1937 he was born east of Sigourney to William and Grace (Myers) Fairchild. He

attended Stoney Point country school until 8 th grade and attended Sigourney High School,

graduating in1955. On July 26, 1958 he married Janet Kay Clark at the Methodist Church

in Oskaloosa. Larry was employed at Amana for 2 years and later started to work for

Conner Brothers Construction, becoming one hell of a bricklayer. After a long day of

work he would come home and he was a handyman for many people in Sigourney. Larry

enjoyed his great-grandchildren, woodworking and attending sporting activities

especially football and track.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Homer, Howard, Hubert, and Harley

Fairchild, two sisters Ruth Cole and Lucille Northup.

He is survived by his wife Janet of 64 years, and their children Debra (Lonnie) Cobb of

Eagan, MN, Diane (Greg) Peiffer of Sigourney, Douglas (Kathy) Fairchild of Urbandale,

Dana (Dan) Richardson of Sigourney, 11 grandchildren Jack Cobb, Jenifer Rodin,

Melissa McLaughlin, Christina Montgomery, Theresa Glandon, Joe, Natalie and Sam

Fairchild, Lauren Richardson, Mallory Richardson, Lindy Donohue, 15

greatgrandchildren, Johnathon and Joey Rodin, Casey and Carson Cobb, Briana, Hanna,

Kiera and Owen McLaughlin, Clayton and Kaylee Visser, Kia, Izabelle and Autumn

Montgomery, Emelya and Daniel Glandon, and several nieces and nephews and many

friends.

Funeral Service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday January 18,  at the Holm Funeral Home.

Burial at Bethel Cemetery near Sigourney.

Visitation 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday January 17, at the funeral home.
