Keota Track Teams Take Trip to Grinnell for Indoor Meet
GRINNELL—On Monday March 20, the Keota Eagles commenced their boys and girls track season at Grinnell for an indoor track meet.
Boys:
For the boys individual events, Gavin Sieren placed seventh in the long jump with a longest jump recorded at 17-02.00. In the 60 meter hurdles, Jacob Libe placed 15th with a final time of 11.15. Dalton Dodd took home 12th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.98, while Even Vittetoe finished tied for 14th with a time of 8.01. Dodd also took home 15th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.97. Lastly for the boys individual events, Skyler Pringle placed 11th in the 1600 meter run with a final time of 6:01.60.
For the team events, the boys finished 10th in the 4x200 meter relay with a final time of 1:48.19. The 4x200 team is made up of Chase Sieren, Evan Vittetoe, Gavin Sieren and Dalton Dodd. The Eagles also placed 10th in the distance medley with a time of 4:45.18. The distance medley team consists of Aiden McGuire, Jacob Libe, Luke Moeller and Chase Haifley.
Girls:
For the girls individual events, Izzy Chalupa placed 12th in the long jump with a longest jump recorded at 12-04.00. In the shot put event, Kennedy Jackson finished in 14th with a longest throw of 25-01.00. Kimberly Clarahan placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a recorded time of 10.78, while Grace Conger placed ninth with a final time of 11.55. In the 60 meter dash, Olivia Lyle finished in fourth with a time of 8.89. Lyle also placed third in the 200 meter dash with a recorded time of 30.14. Emily Moeller came home with ninth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:19.89.
For the team events, the Eagles finished fourth in the 4x200 meter relay with a final time of 2:04.58. The Eagles 4x200 team is made up of Kimberly Clarahan, Grace Conger, Izzi Chalupa and Olivia Lyle. The Eagles also finished in 10th in the distance medley with a time of 5:55.06. The Keota distance medley team consists of Cassandra Swantz, Emily Sheetz, Emily Moeller and Ava Greiner.
Keota head coach Dan Stout spoke on the meet with, “Good for us to get out and compete against other kids. Great time for us to get on a good track and put down event times. Now we have a starting point to go out and try to get better every day.”
