Gilbert M. White, 91, died March 2, 2023 at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa, Iowa He
was born February 2, 1932 to Lloyd Orville and Margaret Marie McKeag White near Sigourney.
He graduated from Thornburg High School. He was drafted into the United States Air Force in
March of 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged on
March 20, 1955. He married Mary Belle Robinson and later they divorced. They farmed until
1965, and Gib and Mary bought a resort at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. In 1966 they moved
back to Iowa. He was employed at Amana and in 1968 he started to work for Moormans as a
salesman until he retired. On December 26, 1986 he married Dorothy (Vittetoe) Sieren and
they made their home at Panora on Lake Panorama for several years, until Dorothy’s passing in
2006. Gib moved back to Sigourney and then to Oskaloosa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing
go-karts. He was a member of the former Universe Lodge in What Cheer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy Sieren White, former wife Mary and
sister Janice Bates.
He is survived by his children Danny White of Oskaloosa, Brian White of Lake Keomah, Larry
(Mike Whitmer) White of Des Moines, 5 grandchildren, 3 great- grandchildren and brother Bob
White of Oskaloosa. Step-children Renee (Bryan) Mercer, Anita (David) Briggs, Denise (Ken)
Surber, Deanna (Juan) Cardenas, Tom (Lisa) Sieren, Anne (Tim) Kratz, Peg (Brian) Miller and
several step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service were 10:30 a.m. Friday March 10, at the Holm Funeral Home.
Burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Visitation was 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday March 9, at the funeral home.
