Keota Splits Opening Season Series
KEOTA—On May 15, the Keota Eagles baseball team commenced their season by hosting the Highland Huskies. The Eagles dropped the first game by a score of 11-0, but bounced back the next day at Highland with a 7-1 victory.
In the first game, the Eagles found themselves in a hole after three innings of play. The Eagles faced a 9-0 deficit, and it seemed like nothing was going their way. The Huskies held onto this lead en route to a 11-0 victory.
The Eagles bounced back in the second game with a gem from pitcher Aidan Anderson, who was unavailable the day before due to the gold district.
Anderson pitched seven innings without allowing a hit or an earned run. On top of the spectacular day from the bump, Anderson drove in three runs on the day on a single and a walk.
Junior Evan Vittetoe also drove in a pair of runners, as he finished the day 1-3 with a single.
The Eagles stand at 1-1 after two games played, and will return to action on May 17, when they host the Chariton Chargers.
