Sigourney:
On June 2, the Sigourney Savages visited the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks for a conference matchup. The Savages secured the victory by a final score of 16-0.
All 14 of the Savage runs came in the first four innings of play. They scored one in the first, three in each the second and third and finally knocked in nine runners in the fourth.
The Savages had three players secure three RBIs on the day: Amiya Smallwood, Macy Fisch and Carly Goodwin.
Carly Goodwin went four innings with no earned runs on one hit and 10 strikeouts.
The Savages push to 6-0 on the season, and will return to action on June 3 for the Oskaloosa tournament.
On June 3, the Sigourney Savages matched up against the West Burlington Falcons in the Oskaloosa tournament. The Savages bested the Falcons by a final score of 8-1.
The Savages jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, then added three more in the fourth en route to the 8-1 victory.
The Savages advance to 7-0 on the season, and will return to action on June 5, when they host the Lynnville-Sully Hawks.
Tri-County:
On May 31, the Tri-County Trojans visited the Belle Plaine Plainsmen for a conference matchup. The Trojans defeated the Plainsmen by a final score of 10-4.
The Trojans found themselves in a 3-3 tie after three innings played. The offense went nuclear in the fourth and fifth innings with seven total runs scored in those innings. They held onto this lead they cemented en route to the 10-4 victory.
The Trojans had two athletes knock in two runs apiece: Delanie Little and Raegan Molyneux.
Little also got the start from the bump, in which she went seven innings with two earned runs on six hits with 13 strikeouts.
The Trojans advance to 3-2 on the season, and will return to action on June 2, when they visit the HLV Warriors.
On June 2, the Tri-County Trojans hosted the HLV Warriors for a conference matchup. The Trojans fell to the Warriors by a final score of 11-6.
The Trojans quickly found themselves in a 9-0 hole, but bounced back with six runs in the next three innings. It was not enough to mount the comeback, as they fell to the Warriors by a final score of 11-6.
The Trojans fall to 3-3 on the season, and will return to action on June 5, when they host the BGM Bears.
English Valleys:
On Saturday May 27, the English Valleys Bears participated in the Williamsburg tournament. The Bears dropped their first game to the Pella Christian Eagles by a final score of 9-0, but bounced back in their second matchup against the Colo-Nesco Royals with a final score of 11-6.
The Bears offense was sparked by Kennedy Axmear, who finished her day a perfect 3-3 with three runs batted in. Axmear also pitched six innings, in which she only gave up two earned runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts.
After the tournament, the Bears sit at 2-3 on the season, and will return to action on May 30, when they visit the Iowa Valley Tigers.
On May 30, the English Valleys Bears visited the Iowa Valleys Tigers for a SICL matchup. The Bears bested the Tigers by a final score of 12-5.
The Bears had six separate athletes record an RBI on the day: Addy Westfall, Kennedy Axmear, Taylor Mikesell, Imigyn Stratton, Aubrey Achenbach and Addison Achenbach.
Kennedy Axmear finished her day with seven innings pitched with one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts.
The Bears pushed back to 3-3 on the season, and will return to action on May 31, when they host the Keota Eagles.
On June 2, the English Valleys Bears visited the BGM Bears for a conference matchup. English Valleys won the battle of the Bears by a final score of 7-2.
BGM jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but English Valleys battled back with six runs in third, fourth and sixth innings.
Kennedy Axmear knocked in three runs, while also pitching seven innings with two earned runs on six hits and five strikeouts.
English Valleys pushed to 5-3 on the season, and will return to action on June 5, when they host the HLV Warriors.
Pekin:
On May 30, the Pekin Panthers visited the Hillcrest Academy Ravens for a SEISC-North matchup. The Ravens defeated the Panthers by a final score of 13-6.
The Panthers fall to 0-4 on the season, and will return to action on June 1, when they host the Lone Tree Lions.
On June 1, the Pekin Panthers hosted the Lone Tree Lions. They fell to the Lions by a final score of 10-0.
The Panthers fall to 0-5 on the season, and will return to action on June 5, when they host a double header against the Van Buren County Warriors.
