English Valleys Softball Pushes Win Streak to Three
NORTH ENGLISH—On May 31, the English Valleys Bears hosted the Keota Eagles for a conference matchup. The Bears bested the Eagles by a final score of 10-0.
The Bears offense came out strong with five runs in the first inning. They added two more in the third, then eventually ended the game with three more runs in the six.
The Bears offense was led by three separate athletes knocking in two runs apiece. Delaney Hall, Taylor Mikesell and Ada Mews all secured two RBIs for the Bears offense.
Kennedy Axmear went six innings deep with giving up no earned runs on two hits with 13 strikeouts. English Valleys head coach Steve Hester spoke on the improvements he has seen from Axmear already through the season with, “Kennedy had to do the rough transition from state track into pitching. I think she’s starting to smooth out.”
Coach Hester went on to explain what he has seen from his team during this win streak with, “It’s nice to see our leadership take over, and the young girls are starting to fit in.”
In his eyes, “Anybody in the conference is beatable right now, and hopefully we can take care of business.”
The Bears advance to 4-3 on the season, and will return to action on June 2, when they visit the BGM Bears.
The Eagles fall to 0-5 on the season, and will return to action on June 2, when they visit the Montezuma Bravettes.
