Sigourney Baseball Storms Past English Valleys
NORTH ENGLISH—The Sigourney Savages visited the English Valleys Bears on June 21 for a conference matchup. The Savages stormed past the Bears by a final score of 11-1.
The game was blown open early, when Sigourney’s Caden Clarahan stepped up to the plate in the top of the first. Clarahan blasted a ball over dead center field for a grand slam. The Savages added another in the top of the first to secure the 5-0 lead.
Clarahan and Issac Bruns led the Savages with four RBIs apiece. Both finished their days with two hits, which were singles and home runs.
Reid Molyneux got the start from the bump, and went three innings, one run on one hit and six strikeouts. Jake Moore came in relief in the bottom of the fourth. He went two innings with no earned runs on one hit and one strikeout. Ty Shafranek came in the bottom of the seventh to clean things up, and finished his day with one inning pitched, no earned runs on no hits and two strikeouts.
The Savages advance to 14-5 on the season, and will return to action on June 23, when they visit the PCM Mustangs.
The Bears fall to 0-16 on the season, and will return to action on June 26, when they visit the Keota Eagles.
