Donna Fae Smith Linnenkamp

Donna Fae Smith Linnenkamp passed away peacefully October 31, 2023, at Windsor Place in Sigourney IA. Born July 31, 1928, to parents Everett and Bertha Tollefson Braden, Donna spent her early years in the Toledo IA area where her parents farmed. She graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1945. She met Robert Smith at the drugstore where she worked in Toledo after he returned from his service in WWII. They married in 1946 and were the parents of 4 children. Robert passed away in 1987. She was employed at the Keokuk County Hospital as nurse’s aide, Keokuk County Public Health as a homemaker, and Iowa Department of Human Service. Donna married Keith Linnenkamp July 30, 1993, and his children and their families welcomed her with open arms. Keith passed away in 1994. Donna’s family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed many travel adventures with friends and family. She was a Scout leader when her children were young and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved to play bridge and looked forward to trips to the casino where she played the penny slots, generally coming home with a few extra dollars in her pocket. She spent many hours watching her beloved Chicago Cubs games.

She is survived by her children Nancy Ill (Barry), Janice Smith, Larry Smith (Luanne), Sue (Darrell) Vannier, John (Kris) Linnenkamp, Jerry (Chris) Linnenkamp and Linda (Ralph) Elliott, her sister Carol, and her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Robert Smith and Keith Linnenkamp, son Steve Smith and siblings Howard, Opal, Gene, Vivian and Delores. The family would like to give a special thank you to all those that so lovingly cared for Donna.

Services will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, November 10 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sigourney.               

Visitation 9:30 to 11:00 at the church.
