Keota Basketball Mid-Season Recap

The Keota girls basketball team hasn’t had the first half of the season they would’ve hoped for, but they were able to secure their first victory of the season over Belle Plaine by a final score of 53-28.

Junior Kimberly Clarahan is once again the focal point of the offense, as she averages 7.9 points, 2.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 steals.

Sophomore Kennedy Jackson has become the main paint presence for the Eagles, as she averages 6.9 points and 3.5.

Junior Grace Conger fills out the stat sheet as well with an average of 5.8 points, 1.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds.

The boys team has stormed out to a top ranking in Class 1A according to the Power Index on Varsity Bound. They currently hold a record of 10-0 and a conference record of 8-0.

The highlight of her season came in a three game stretch against the top teams in the SICL conference. They first took down Belle Plaine at home, then traveled to Lynnville-Sully a few days later. They took down the Hawks in a thriller, and finished the three game stretch off with a win at home over Montezuma. This helped propel the Eagles to the top of the conference standings. 

Senior Sawyer Stout continues to score at will, as he averages 21.3 points with a shooting percentage of 52% 

Fellow senior Cole Kindred is the do it all man for the Eagles, as he averages 12.1 points, 5.9 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. 

The other Kindred brother, Billie Kindred, has blossomed in his sophomore year for the Eagles. He almost averages a double double with 10.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

Both teams return to action on January 5, when Keota hosts the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks.
