SK Bowling Teams Claim Honors During Conference Meet
The Sigourney-Keota boys and girls high school bowling teams traveled to Newton to compete in the 2024 Two Rivers Conference Meets last week.
During the girls’ meet on Friday, February 9 , with ten teams competing, Addison Richardson claimed the high score for the SK girls during individual competition when she rolled a 212. The SK girls team placed fifth at the meet and Sophie Young placed fourth overall during the individual round.
Three of the SK girls claimed honors during the meet as junior Jayden Montgomery was named to the All-Conference First Team. Additionally, junior Addison Richardson and freshman Sophie Young were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Sophie Young also earned accolades by placing fourth overall during the individual round.
The next day, the boys headed to Newton for their conference meet. During the first game of individual competition, senior Ty Krueger threw an impressive 275 which proved to be the high score for the entire meet consisting of ten teams. In fact, four of SK’s six varsity boys’ bowlers scored over 200 pins during the first game. Senior Brock Alderson placed first among all bowlers with a remarkable 742 three-game series to edge out highly ranked Oskaloosa’s Trey Van Wyk by two pins. The SK boys’ team placed fourth overall.
Brock Alderson was again named to the Two Rivers All-Conference First Team for the fourth time. Landyn Greiner was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
Both teams will be in action again this week during the state qualifying meets.
