Keota Soars Past English Valleys in First Round
KEOTA—The first round of the playoffs commenced for the Keota Eagles boys’ basketball team with a third matchup against the English Valleys Bears. The Eagles completed the season sweep over the Bears by a final score of 99-35.
The Eagles continued to score at will with extreme efficiency. They finished their night with a team shooting percentage of 51.9%. Keota senior Sawyer Stout led all scorers with 24 points on a shooting percentage of 56.2%.
Three other Eagles hit double digits on the night. Senior Aiden McGuire led the team with 14 points, while sophomore Billie Kindred had 13 points on a shooting percentage of 71.4%. His brother, senior Cole Kindred, led the team by shooting 83.3% from the field with 11 points.
Cole Kindred was also the main facilitator for the Eagles, as he tallied six assists. Sophomore Chase Haifley displayed his court vision as well, as he finished his night with five assists.
Haifley also led the charge for the Eagles 22 total team steals, as he tallied six of his own. Senior Chase Sieren tallied six steals as well.
The Eagles advance to the second round of the Class 1A Substate 6: District 11, where they will host the North Tama Redhawks,
The Bears finish their season with a final record of 3-21, and a conference record of 2-14.
