Auditor Report Released for City of Sigourney

SIGOURNEY – The Iowa Auditor’s Office released an audit report for the City of Sigourney on March 29, giving a full overview of the city’s finances. The report noted a few minor issues, several of which were repeated from the prior year, but nothing major. Issues noted include a lack of segregation of duties, lack of independent review of utility reconciliations, a need for more frequent budget amendments, and a possible conflict of interest due to the city hiring Atwood Electric, a company owned by Councilwoman Stephanie Lentz’s brother, for electrical work, without a competitive bid.
