Living Last Supper Shown in Sigourney

SIGOURNEY – Be the Light Ministry, a church in Sigourney, held its second annual Living Last Supper play on March 28. The play, directed by Kelly Mousel, takes place during the Last Supper and is structured as a series of monologues by the twelve disciples, following Jesus’s revelation that one of them will betray him, with each disciple questioning if they are worthy and wondering which of them is the traitor.

“This has been a passion of mine for a long time, since I left the high school drama department,” said Mousel. “It’s been on my heart and it is exactly what I needed to do and exactly where I needed to be...(Challenges included) building a bigger set in a limited amount of space, getting that many fully grown men up there in that limited space. Dealing with adults is harder than working with children.”

The play starred Steve Shettler as Jesus, Sean Stutzman as Phillip, Lyle Donald as John, Brys Snakenberg as Nathaniel, Gary Jarmes as Simon the Zealot, Ken Finch as James the Lesser, Kevin Redlinger as Thaddeus, Kyle Weber as Andrew, Gunner Mohs as Matthew, Jeff Hinnah as Judas Iscariot, Doug Webster as Thomas, and Rick Danowsky as James. The play began with a short scene where a father played by Michael McNurlen tells his children, played by Beau and Jayde Snakenberg, about Jesus. Pam Schwenke provided the piano accompaniment.
