Moore Mashes, Goodwin Gases as #2 Ranked Sigourney Defeats Belle Plaine in Opener


Sigourney’s Carly Goodwin pitched five innings with only one hit given up and 14 strikeouts tallied

BELLE PLAINE—On May 20, the #2 ranked Sigourney Savages visited the Belle Plaine Plainsmen to open up the season. The Savages shined with a 13-0 victory in five innings of play.

The Savages used four run innings in the first and fifth to propel them to this victory.

Junior Jospehine Moore started off where she left off last year with a team high five runs batted in. Senior Carly Goodwin also knocked in three runners.

Goodwin also got the start from the bump. She pitched five innings with no earned runs on one hit and 14 strikeouts. 

The Savages push to 1-0 on the season, and will return to action on May 22 for their home opener against the Keota Eagles.
