Bruns and Fisch Combine for Six RBIs as Savages Defeat Warriors
SIGOURNEY—On June 10, the #3 Sigourney Savages softball team hosted the HLV/Tri-County Warriors for a battle of the top two teams in the conference. The Savages stormed past the Warriors by a final score of 13-0.
Junior Ava Fisch put on a show at the plate for the home crowd. She tallied three RBIs, tied with Ella Bruns for most on the night, and went a perfect 4-4 at the plate. She was a home run away from hitting the cycle, as she hit a single, two doubles and a triple. On top of that, she also found her way to home plate two times of the four times she was on base.
Eighth grader Ella Bruns has shown no fear for the big stage, as he knocked in three runners on a single and sacrifice-fly.
Seniors Erin Dawson and Amiya Smallwood also secured two RBIs apiece for the Savages. Carly Goodwin, Ava Fineran and Dani Aller also knocked in one run apiece.
Senior Carly Goodwin got the start on the bump. She ended her day with four innings pitched, no earned runs on one hit and eight strikeouts.
Tri-County’s Reagan Molyneaux had the one hit for the HLV/Tri-County team, as she had a single in top of the fourth.
The Savages now hold a full game lead over HLV/TC and English Valleys for the top spot in the SICL Conference. They hold an overall record of 11-4, and a conference record of 8-1.
The HLV/TC team falls to 8-3 with a conference record of 7-2. They return to action quickly, as they visit the Montezuma Braves on June 11.
