Rosie the Riveter in Iowa

Linda Betsinger McCann is an author of non-fiction Iowa history. Her works include Prisoners of War in Iowa, Prohibition in Iowa, several books about the Civilian Conservation Corps in different areas of Iowa, and The Vanished Towns of the Cedar Valley series.

Linda will be coming to the English Valleys History Center on Sunday, October 27, at 2:00 p.m. to discuss Rosie the Riveter in Iowa.

“Rosie the Riveter” was the nickname given to women who worked during World War II. Women were hesitant to go to work, so they had to be encouraged. Linda was completely surprised to learn there were 70 companies in Iowa that had military contracts during WWII. Linda was able to speak with 35 women who had worked as Rosies and shares their memories when she speaks. She will have copies of all her books available for purchase.

The EV History Center is located at 108 N. Main St. in North English, Iowa. This event is free of charge to all, and everyone is invited to attend. Donations are accepted.
