Roger Alan Sines, 71
Roger Alan Sines, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on October 24, 2024, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield. Born on February 10, 1953, in Davenport, Roger was the son of Perry Lee and Esther Rose Claussen Sines. His early years were spent on the family farm in Davis County, where he developed a lifelong love for agriculture and the great outdoors.
Roger's formative years were rich with experiences that shaped the man he would become. After his family relocated to Martinsburg, he attended Pekin High School, graduating in 1972. Post-graduation, Roger began a fulfilling career at Amana Refrigeration, dedicating himself to the company until his retirement in 2019. Roger remained deeply connected to his farming roots, often lending a helping hand to his friend Rob Wonderlich on the farm, where he found joy in milking cows and tending to the land.
A man of many interests, Roger's love for the outdoors was matched only by his passion for keeping busy in his shop. He was often found cutting wood, meticulously tinkering with antique tractors, or simply enjoying a good cup of coffee. His Stanley thermos, a steadfast companion, was never far from his side, filled to the brim with his favorite brew.
Roger's greatest love, however, was for his family, particularly his grandchildren, with whom he shared countless precious moments. He had an extraordinary ability to create magical worlds for them, whether setting up an elaborate farm on the floor or playfully engaging in a game of Barbies with his granddaughter. His playful spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Left to honor Roger's memory are his son, James Sines (Ashley) of Harper; three daughters, Lynda McDowell of Marengo, Jessica Evans (Kevin) of Troy, OH, and Mandy McCullough (Chris) of Dayton, OH; five brothers, Donald Sines (Carol) of Bloomfield, David Sines (Karen) of Lebanon, IN, Bruce Sines (Betty) of Batavia, Kendall Sines (Patti) of Batavia, and Steve Sines of Bloomfield. His legacy will live on through his ten grandchildren, Brayden, Kysen, Avery, Jeremiah, Payton, Skylar, Kayla, Ryan, Devon, and Faith, and his three great-grandchildren, Bella, Rowan, and Finley. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Esther, and his brothers, Dale and Marvin Sines. His departure has left a void in the hearts of many, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who loved him.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Woolson Friends Church south of Richland. This gathering will be an opportunity for friends and family to come together and share stories, laughter, tears and coffee as they remember a man who was truly one of a kind. Gifts to a memorial in Roger’s honor to be designated later by the family may be left at the celebration of life or mailed to the family at 208 Achard Street, Harper, IA 52231. Roger's family invites you to leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.
