11 area athletes named to South Iowa Cedar League All-Conference volleyball team

Sigourney – Nearly a dozen players proved how good they were on the court this fall. 

The South Iowa Cedar League released their All-Conference volleyball team last week with 11 area athletes being named to the teams. 

Sigourney led the area with three of their stars being named to the first team alone. Overall the Savages had six players that were named to the All-Conference list. 

English Valleys landed three players on the list with one of their players being named to the second team, and two players on honorable mention. 

Keota had two players named to the list with one on the second team and one honorable mention. 

Sigourney’s first teamers included senior Taylor Rozenboom being named as the first team setter. 

Dani Aller was named to the first team as the libero. Josephine Moore was named to the first team as a hitter.

Rozenboom shined as a setter throughout the season. She was able to lead her team with 329 total assists this season. The senior didn’t just stop at assists though. She also added 22 kills throughout her senior campaign. 

A fixture in the back row when she needed to be Rozenboom was able to compile 133 digs. She finished the year with 16 aces and a serving efficiency rate of over 95 percent. 

Aller was a crucial part of the Savage attack and defense throughout the season. She finished the year with 24 assists and four kills. 

Aller’s ability to dig out just about any ball that came her way was a big part of her success as she had 247 total digs, the second most on the team. The senior ended her season with 21 total aces.

Another senior for the Savages was Moore, who proved to be dangerous no matter where she was in the rotation.  

Moore seemed to be able to cover the court extremely well. Her 193 total kills led the team and was the fourth-most in conference play. The senior also added two assists. 

Moore played at the net very well finishing with eight total blocks. She also kept the ball alive with 284 digs.

From the service line Moore was just as dangerous with 28 aces and a serve success rate of 94 percent. 

Another Savage senior, Reagan Clarahan, was named to the second team list. 

This season Clarahan had 152 total kills, which was the fifth-most in conference play, and second most on her team. Clarahan added two assists as well. 

Most of the season featured Clarahan doing most of the blocking for the Savages. The senior ended up with 48 blocks, including 30 solo. She also added 71 digs. 

Clarahan finished with 16 aces and served just over 88 percent. 

English Valleys sophomore Ava Gehrking was named to the second team All-Conference list. She was the leader of the Bears with 216 total kills recorded. She also added 27 assists. 

Gehrking excelled at the net with 70 total blocks attributed to her. Of those 70, 37 of the blocks were solo. She also was able to compile a team-leading 209 digs. 

The sophomore finished with 36 aces and a serve efficiency rate of 86 percent. 

Keota senior Kimberly Clarahan was named as the second team libero. 

The Eagle senior finished her season with 12 assists and 14 kills, even though she played most of the season from the back row. 

Kimberly Clarahan was able to dig out 341 shots, leading her team and leading the conference in digs. Clarahan added 16 aces and recorded a serve success rate of nearly 82 percent. 

Honorable mentions for the area teams included Keota junior Kennedy Jackson. Her 21 blocks were the most on her team. 

English Valleys featured Hadyn Bender. The sophomore led her team with 467 assists. Also from English Valleys was Olivia Debevec. The freshman had 112 kills and 30 aces. 

Sigourney honorable mentions included senior McKinley Chittick who had 105 kills and 93 digs. Sophomore Bailey Gretter had 225 digs, 175 assists and 22 aces this year.
