Sigourney Jr-Sr High and Keota High Labeled High Performing, Sigourney Elementary and Pekin Junior/Senior High Labeled Needs Improvement, According to State Performance Profiles
KEOKUK COUNTY – The Iowa Department of Education has released the 2023/2024 School Performance Profiles. These profiles award schools points based on various criteria. The statewide average for schools is a score of 60.95% of all possible points. The local schools covered by the News-Review received the following scores:

Sigourney Elementary and Pekin Junior/Senior High were both noted to have dropped ratings since last year and were given the label Needs Improvement. Keota Elementary, Tri-County Elementary, Tri-County JR/SR High, Pekin Elementary, and English Valleys Elementary were all labeled Acceptable. English Valleys Jr-Sr High was labeled Commendable. Sigourney Jr-Sr High and Keota High were labeled High Performing.
